
The 10th European Development Fund (EDF) cycle covered years from 2008 to 2013. A total of €607 million was allocated.
Food and Agriculture Sector
The overall objective is to reduce poverty and hunger in an environmentally sustainable manner. This is the largest section in terms of commitments.
In the 10th EDF alone, the sector was allocated €125 million for the period between 2008 and 2013.
Some of interventions under this sector were: Agriculture Sector Wide Approach (ASWAp) and Greenbelt Initiative, Improved Forestry Management for Sustainable Livelihoods – Phase II, Farm Income Diversification Programme (FIDP) Phase II and Rural Infrastructure Development Programme (RIDP)

Transport and Infrastructure
The objective is to reduce poverty through enhanced regional interconnection, based on a sound multimodal transport policy, which has the potential to boost the Malawi’s economy.
In the 10th EDF, the sector was allocated €70 million for implementation of the Road Transport Sector Policy Programme.
