The current cycle of European Development Fund (11th EDF) being implemented is from 2014 to 2020. Malawi’s programme whose total value is €560 million was signed on 29th May 2015.
Programmes under 11th EDF
- Kutukula Ulimi m’Malawi (KULIMA) – is a programme aiming at promoting farming in Malawi with a total budget of €110 million. Land Governance for Sustainable Agriculture: With a total estimated cost of €3 million, the project’s aim is to improve livelihoods of people, particularly in the rural areas of Malawi, through sustainable agricultural development.
- Skills and Technical Education Programme (STEP): With a total allocation of €32,725,000, the programme is designed to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of Technical, Entrepreneurial and Vocational Education and Training (TEVET) system in Malawi.
- Improving Secondary Education in Malawi (ISEM): The programme has a total allocation of €36.5 million. The aim of the project is to contribute to Malawi Government’s goal of increasing access to secondary education through construction and rehabilitation of 21 Community Day Secondary Schools (CDSSs), including hostels for girls and structures for students with special needs. The programme will also rehabilitate Karonga Cultural Museum building which mostly requires reroofing.
- Chilungamo (Justice and Accountability) Programme: With a funding of €48 million, the Programme’s aim is to contributing to a dignified life through accountable government, informed democratic choice, and humane and effective delivery of justice.
